After Halloween has come and gone, Hoffman Estates pumpkins will be given one last hurrah when they serve as the centerpiece of an upcoming celebration.
The community's Public Works will be running an open house activity in early November, and everyone can stop by and join in with the fun. It will run for three hours, and it will support the community's sustainability initiative.
Kids in the crowd can view the equipment on display, and there will be snowplows, excavators, loaders, scissor lifts, and other gear for them to touch and explore. Meanwhile, adults can learn more about the vehicles and how they are used to maintain the local infrastructure, and there will also be other hands-on exhibits. Refreshments and Promotional Products will be distributed for as long as supplies last, and a raffle is in the works as well.
One part of the celebration that may be especially exciting will be Hoffman Estate’s annual Pumpkin Smash. Households can participate, but they have been asked to make sure they remove the candles and any decorations. The pumpkins will be composted for later use. Hoffman Estates has scheduled its combined Public Works Open House and Pumpkin Smash for Saturday, November 8. The venue for the occasion is at 2305 Pembroke Avenue.
