Event brings the world's best skaters to Illinois

Skate America is taking place this October in Hoffman Estates, presented by Hilton Honors.

Skaters from the U.S. and across the world (56 of them in all) will be taking part in three days of competition; many are former Olympic competitors. Categories include men's, ladies’, pairs and pairs dance. Among the American participants in this year's event are Gracie Gold and Jason Brown (both from Illinois), Jeremy Abbott and dance pair Madison Chock and Evan Bates. The event will finish with the Smucker's Skating Spectacular showcase.

The organizers of the event are still looking for volunteers to help out with taking tickets, selling merchandise, and seating the audience, among other tasks.

A VIP pass is available for purchase for the entire competition, which includes access to all practice skates, a drink voucher, a program, and a souvenir pin.

No doubt this event will attract visitors from all over the country, and possibly the world. Residents of Hoffman Estates may have found out about it though newspaper inserts such as Flyers provided by local Stationery printers.
