What's Happening in Hoffman Estates, IL…

Applications are now open for people who wish to be a part of the Citizen Police Academy.

The program is being run by the Hoffman Estates Police Department and has been going on for 31 years. The entire program runs over 12 weeks of classes. Flyer printing can be used to promote such a program.

In order to be accepted into the program, all applicants have to be older than 18 and they must work, live, or go to school in Hoffman Estates. The police department would like people to note that spaces are limited and they tend to fill fast, so applying early is advised.

The Academy’s goal is to give citizens living in the area a better understanding of how the police department works. The students will get the opportunity to work directly will the equipment that police use, such as jail cells, radios and squad cars.

Actual police officers will come in to give the students briefings and to go through reports coming in from the field. Guest speakers and detectives will also be invited to give talks on crime scene investigation.

The classes will start on January 7 and will run from 6:30 pm to 9:30 pm. They will be held at the Hoffman Estates Police Department at 411 W. Higgins Road.
