The 19th annual Fishing Derby will be taking place in Hoffman Estates early this June. It is hosted by the Hoffman Estates Chamber of Commerce and is the largest event of its kind in the state.
The derby will be held at South Ridge Lake and the shore is accessible to everyone. It is open to those from the ages of 2 and up. Local experts will be on hand to offer advice on every aspect of fishing. Participants can win $10 is they catch fish that have already been tagged or catch $100 that will be hidden in the lake. There will also be door prizes handed out every 10 minutes and a special guest appearance by Ronald McDonald. Food vendors will also be on location at the lake.
In past years, participants also receive goody Bags and T-Shirts; this may continue this year.
Local businesses or individuals can also sponsor a fish for $15, $35, $60 or $110.
