Special event coming up in Gurnee
Gurnee merchants have identified a method for coping with the blues that can set in in the middle of a long, cold winter—shopping.
Gurnee Mills, a regional shopping center, is sponsoring its 3rd Annual “Escape the Winter Blues” event, during which more than 20 local artisans, crafters, and vendors will set up tables in the common areas of the mall, encouraging shoppers to browse through their tables and find some unusual items and bargains. The participants will be found between the Value City location and Dick's Sporting Goods.
Among the vendors already signed up are Color Street, Paparazzi, and Avon. Color Street manufactures nail polish strips that are pressed on the nail, rather than painted on. Paparazzi is not a news organization, but an accessory company that offers jewelry and similar items at very reasonable prices.
The name Avon is familiar to everyone, as the organization has a history going back to 1886, when its founder, David H. McConnell, set up a small operation in New York City, and made Avon's first fragrances. He hired his first sales representative, Mrs. Albee that same year, and started one of the nation's most successful woman-centered companies.
The event is scheduled for February 7 through February 9. Hours on the first two days are 10:00 am until 9:00 pm, and from 11:00 am until 7:00 pm on February 9. Banner printing is an excellent medium to use to bring attention to events like this.
