Semi-professional basketball coming to the area
A semi-pro basketball team recently announced it will spend the next season in Gurnee.
The Vipers Pro Basketball organization will play its 2019-2020 season in the Village of Gurnee, at the Almond campus of Warren Township High School. The Vipers are part of the American Basketball Association (ABA), with this being the team’s fifth season in the organization.
Kristina Kovarik, the mayor of Gurnee, said the team will be a great addition to the many family-friendly attractions the city already boasts, fitting in well with such venues as Six Flags Great America. Major sporting events like this can often be publicized through poster printing.
The CEO/president of the Vipers, R.J. White, said the team's partnership with the high school means teams are brought to Gurnee from around the world to play here. He added that Gurnee was the perfect location, since it offers many fun things to do and see, including Great Wolf Lodge and Gurnee Mills, and has a number of fine restaurants for visitors to enjoy too.
Vipers tickets are $3 for children, and $10 for adults. Membership in the “Vipers Kids Club” entitles youngsters to free admission to home games for the entire season, and they will also receive benefits, perks, and free gear. The upcoming season begins in October and runs until March 2020, comprising 18 games – 12 away and 6 at home.
