What's Happening in Waukegan, IL…

Popular Gurnee attraction reopens

Although Six Flags Great America is still closed, one popular site in the park is open, with restrictions in place.

Hurricane Harbor is now open to members, and will reopen to the public soon. The water park developed its reopening procedures by consulting with epidemiologists who, according to information shared on the Six Flags' website, said the facility:

“…meets or exceeds federal, state, and local guidelines for sanitization, hygiene, and social distancing protocols.”

In order to be admitted, visitors will have to have reservations for Hurricane Harbor, and they will receive a health screening before they can enter. Social distancing requirements will be strictly enforced, and disinfecting and sanitizing protocols will be practiced throughout the park.

In addition, to help with social distancing and to maintain a flow of attendees, the park has put an online reservation system in place. People who plan on visiting Hurricane Harbor are asked to pick the day and approximate time they would like to visit, and then watch a short video showing the new procedures for sanitizing and social distancing. They are also asked to acknowledge that they understand these policies, and to place an order for pre-paid parking, if they are not already a pass holder. Complete information is on Great America Six Flags' website.

Hurricane Harbor will open July 27. Flyer printing can be used to create handouts for visitors to explain best practices in situations like this.
