What's Happening in Waukegan, IL…

Pop tribute near Gurnee

A tribute band for one of pop music's biggest groups will be in the Gurnee area for one performance.

Abba Mania takes audiences back to the 1970s, when the Swedish group ABBA dominated pop music. Songs like “Dancin' Queen,” “Fernando,” and “Mamma Mia” were played constantly, and the group became one of the greatest successes in pop music history. Their albums went to the top spot on charts all over the world during the period from 1974 to 1983.

The tribute group first got together in 1999, and began performing the following year. In 2002, they went to the West End, and played at the Strand Theatre for 18 weeks, then went to Germany for 21 performances. They toured Europe extensively, and in 2003 they won the Radio Regenbogen award as “Best Musical of 2002”; other winners were Meatloaf and Tom Jones.

Abba Mania has continued to build success on success, touring the world, and selling out its shows wherever it appears. The group recreates, to the last detail, a live performance by the original group.

A review says:

“Abba Mania was tons of fun. The band had incredible energy and stage presence, which kept the audience engaged and dancing. Enjoyed every minute.”

The performance will be at the Genesee Theatre in Waukegan, a short drive from Gurnee, on January 22, 2021, at 8:00 pm. Brochure printing can provide programs for events like this.
