Memorial 5K run raises funds to combat cancer

A 5K fun run is being planned for Gurnee residents to honor a local boy’s memory and battle with cancer, and interested parties are encouraged to participate.

The 30th Annual Jon Callaghan Memorial Turkey Trot 5K Run Fun will begin in a few weeks. It will offer Gurnee residents an opportunity to run, jog, or walk for a good cause. The 5K aims to join the community in an atmosphere that is both fun and relaxed while raising money for the Jon Callaghan Memorial Fund and the Gurnee Community Church Youth Work Camp.

Funds raised from previous fun runs and Turkey Trots have been donated to Comer Children’s Memorial Hospital Cancer Research and School District 56 Program for the Learning Disabled. Flyer printing is among the best ways to build awareness of such fundraisers, increase attendance, and raise more money to support good causes in the community.

Interested parties can make donations by making checks payable to the Gurnee Turkey Trot. Donations are appreciated, and the event is seeking more sponsors. Participating in the 5K is encouraged to raise funds to help future generations. Interested parties can get in touch with Commander William Meyer for more information.

The Turkey Trot will start at the Gurnee Fire Station One on Thursday, November 28th, with registration beginning at 8:00 AM. Tickets are available online starting at $30 per guest.
