Gurnee workshop to discuss clinical ethics

Warren Township Youth and Family Services will be organizing a seminar in November at the Warren Township Senior Center in Gurnee.

Ethical and Cultural Competence in Clinical Practice is a workshop that teaches businesses about important principles to implement in the workplace. The presentation covers topics such as microaggressions, intersectionality, and how to work and apply ethics within diverse communities. Those who join the program will learn how to assess their own practices, connect with clients, and use seven strategies to form an inclusive business or organization.

The presenter for the workshop is Mark Sanders, who works around the world as a speaker and author. His past books include Recovery Management and Relationship Detox. Sanders has also been published in the Chicken Soup for the Soul series. He co-founded the Serenity Academy of Chicago and has worked as an educator for 30 years. Professionals like Sanders may use business cards to engage with interested consumers.

The cultural competence workshop will be held on Friday, November 12 from 9:00 am to 12:15 pm and will cost $30 per student. Attendees for the presentation are required to register in advance. Those who attend Sanders’ course will receive a certification. Refunds for the program are requestable up to one day before the workshop. The event is expected to be particularly useful for people working as caseworkers, social workers, and therapists.
