Gurnee to offer intensive course for mental health workers
Those in mental health-related professions can attend a training program in Gurnee offered by Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) Consulting.
EMDR Training: Integrating EMDR into your Clinical Practice is an intensive five-day course for people such as counselors, social workers, and psychiatrists. Participants will learn about the basics of EMDR through lectures, demonstrations, and practice sessions with other students. Each date of the program will include time for networking with classmates (and no doubt exchanging printed business cards), Q&A sessions with teachers, and two 15-minute breaks throughout the day.
Several topics will be covered in the EMDR course, including clinical intervention strategies, client preparation techniques, and how to use EMDR in a virtual environment. Attendees will also learn about the key elements of a memory and when EMDR treatment can be appropriate for grief. The consulting trainer for the program is Paula P. Merucci, a Licensed Clinical Social Worker from Illinois and a Certified Alcohol and Drug Counselor. She began working as a coach in 2017.
The intensive training session will be held from Monday, January 23 to Friday, January 27, 2023. Private practitioners interested in participating in the course must pay $1,495, and students can pay $1,295. Guests must register by Friday, January 13. The event will be held at the Holiday Inn Chicago North.
