Gurnee police department to organize run
The Gurnee Fraternal Order of Police Social Lodge will be collaborating with a local organization to hold a charitable race in June.
The Gurnee Police Department will be hosting a family event where civilians can compete with local officers to see who is the fastest. The race will start at the back parking lot of the police department and continue onto the Des Plaines River Trail. Aid stations will be set up to offer participants water and Gatorade. The first 500 competitors to cross the finish line will be awarded a special finisher’s medal.
The group helping the police’s fraternal order with the run is the Lake County Children’s Advocacy Center. The organization consists of a multidisciplinary team that can assist kids by conducting forensic interviews, offering trauma-specific counseling services, and advocating for victims of abuse. The center works with 44 police departments and has helped more than 980 victims. Groups that benefit children such as this may use flyer printing to increase the community’s awareness of their causes.
The fundraiser will be held on Saturday, June 25 and will begin at 8:00 am. The cost to join the 5K is $30, and the price of the 10K is $40. Prices will increase by $5 on the day of the event. Packets can be picked up on June 24 at the Gurnee Police Department.
