Gurnee makes plans for Stayin Alive

It is time for Gurnee residents to go back to the 1970s with a tribute to the group that rocked the decade.

Bee Gees Gold: A Tribute to the Bee Gees (BGG) are appearing at the Genesee Theatre in Waukegan, a short distance from Gurnee.

The Bee Gees were the Gibb brothers: Barry, Maurice, and Robin. They first hit the charts in Australia before returning to the UK in 1967. In 1978, they released the album that made them one of the most successful bands of all time, changed culture all over the world, and swept in the disco craze: “Saturday Night Fever.” The album won five Grammys, including “Album of the Year.”

Bee Gees Gold recreates the experience of an actual Bee Gees concert, using the same style of clothing, and singing in the falsetto range that gave the original group its unique sound. The tribute band concentrates on the songs from the years when the band was at its height. Among the songs on their setlist are early works like “I Started a Joke” and “Massachusetts” to the classics of disco such as “You Should Be Dancing” and, of course, “Stayin' Alive.”

A review of BGG says:

“Such a well-polished act! Phenomenal vocals, energy and musicianship! Also great dudes that are always classy . . .”

Bee Gees Gold will be at the Genesee Theatre on November 19 at 7:30 pm. Poster printing can provide advertising for events like this.
