Frosty Fest slated for Gurnee

Although Christmas festivities will end in December, winter fun is just beginning. According to an item on the Gurnee Park District website, Frosty Fest is already on the schedule, and promises to provide even more family fun.

The one-night event is presented by the Village of Gurnee, the Gurnee Park District, and the Bittersweet Golf Course. Frosty Fest is sponsored by Cravings Red Hots, Honey Orthodontics, and the Northshore University Healthsystem.

Activities on the schedule include ice sculpting, with an ice carver giving demonstrations and engaging the children in interactive play; carriage rides behind a team of horses; and a snowman building contest. Frosty the Snowman will be there so children can visit him, and the Warren Special Recreation Association will host a ‘Snowshoe on the 10th Hole’ event.

Deb Rawaillot will be present with her “Z-team” of sled dogs, and will give demonstrations. There will be games, music, s'mores, and hot chocolate, and the first 500 children to arrive will receive glow necklaces. Guests are advised to dress warmly.

Frosty Fest is slated for January 9, 2015, at the Bittersweet Golf Course on Almond Road in Gurnee. The event runs from 5.30 to 8.00 pm. Event organizers could work with a banner printing company to create fun banners that can be mounted at the various attractions so people can find their way around easily.
