The American Legion’s annual membership caravan will be stopping at the organization’s post in Gurnee this January.
The 2023 American Legion Membership Caravan is an event where current members of the group can meet with one of the legion’s national leaders. The program was also created to combat the legion’s decreasing memberships after the holidays.
Attendees will learn about current issues related to The American Legion family over dinner. The event is part of the organization’s journey across Illinois, and the traveling party will consist of about 15 to 20 people. Those who visit the caravan can turn in their membership cards during the program.
The representative who will be giving the presentation at the event is National Vice Commander Ken Hylton. He was initially the Indiana state commander of the organization and is a life member of the St. Joseph American Legion Post. Hylton served in the 301st Army Security Agency Battalion and has experience working for the U.S. Postal Service. The national vice commander also raises awareness for veteran services.
The American Legion Membership Caravan will be visiting Gurnee on Saturday, January 14 from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm. No payment is required to attend Hylton’s upcoming presentation. National organizations that put together programs such as this may use flyer printing services to let their members know about their meetings in advance.
