A Twin Falls organization is accepting registrations for a learning opportunity that may help small-scale and market farms make the most of their property.
The Orton Botanical Garden, Inc. has a workshop series scheduled for 2027 aimed at owners of small acreages. It is set to be run at the Messersmith Building at the Jerome County Fairgrounds, and it will run for seven weeks.
The topics on the agenda for discussion during the course will cover everything from planning to raising sheep, goats, cattle, and other livestock. Garden and pasture management along with raising chicken and other poultry will be on the agenda, and soil appropriation will be discussed as well. All materials required for the classes will be provided. A fee of $50 per property is being charged.
Small-scale agriculture can often be highly sustainable, and owners and operators may appreciate the chance to gather information and learn new techniques. Course manuals, certificates of completion, and other custom designed learning materials for a workshop or class can be prepared by Print shops, which will also be able to provide poster printing and other marketing options.
The Making the Most of Your Small Acreage workshop series will run from January 20 to March 17, 2027. The final date to submit a registration request is December 19, and those interested may contact the organizers through the Orton Botanical Garden website.
