Local animal non-profit sponsors Stuart fundraiser

Dog lovers in Stuart can support a well-known nonprofit and have fun at the same time.

The Humane Society of the Treasure Coast will sponsor Pup Crawl this weekend. This twist on a familiar theme will have dog owners walk downtown Stuart with their dogs, stopping for both human and canine drinks at six different favorite watering holes, including include Dirty South Bar, Spritz City Bistro, and Taco Shack.

The event theme is Peace, Paws & Pints. Attendees and dogs are encouraged to dress in 1970s-era Apparel and participate in a costume contest. Poster printing can be used to promote such events. Other activities include a raffle and prizes for both pets and owners. A commemorative Stuart Pub Crawl tumbler is available for purchase, with net proceeds going directly to benefit animals at the shelter.

The Pup Crawl will be this Saturday, August 2nd, from 4:30 PM to 10:00 PM. The advance ticket price is $30, or $45 on the day of the event. Attendees should note that all dogs must be kept on a non-retractable leash, and the owner is responsible for the dog's care at all times. Pets will not be allowed in any business establishment, so owners may wish to pair with a friend or loved one. Since alcohol will be served, guests must be 21 or over.
