Residents of North Miami Beach will now be seeing a fleet of four new green garbage trucks on the streets of their neighborhoods, with more to come.
The striking vehicles are part of a new contract that has been undertaken with Waste Management. The company paid for the trucks, each of which came with a price tag of $275,000. For fuel, they use compressed natural gas, which the city’s director of Public Works, Esmond Scott noted is better for the environment.
Ana Garcia, who is North Miami Beach’s City Manage, pointed out that each of them will produce much less carbon waste than equivalents that run on diesel, gas, or other fuels, which will help to minimize their effect on the environment. She further remarked that they will provide excellent service to city residents. Mailing services can be used in situations like this to send out information that lets the residents know more.
The new waste collection vehicles also include several features that make them safer for the crews who staff them, and the public as well. These include both onboard cameras and computers.
More of these green trucks will be added to the fleet throughout the spring, and both Scott and Garcia expressed how pleased they were to be able to bring them to the city.
