Local agencies and city governments collaborate for hurricane fundraising efforts

Tenet Healthcare Corporations hospitals in Florida have banded together with several United Way agencies, city governments and local EMS to gather resources for those affected by Hurricane Dorian in the Bahamas.

Multiple cities in the area – including North Miami Beach, Palm Beach Gardens and Coral Gables – can help support the collaborative efforts by encouraging residents and businesses to get involved.

The Bahamas, though an independent country, are located not far off shore from these cities and many of Tenet’s healthcare locations, which include Coral Gables Hospital, Florida Medical Center and North Shore Medical Center. The healthcare corporation realizes that many of their patients, employees and their families have been affected by the aftermath of the storm.

Businesses often have resources that are not available to nonprofit agencies, such as Stationery printers, which can be used to create materials needed to create communications involving fundraising efforts. For this effort, organizers are looking to collect both supplies and funds to assist the Bahamas in their recovery efforts.

Tenet’s Florida hospitals have already committed to donating $5,000 for hurricane relief funds. Three United Way agencies in Florida have banded together to collect funds through online donations – United Way of Palm Beach County, United Way of Miami-Dade, and United Way of Broward County. They will work closely with the Bahamian government to ensure the funds are directed those impacted. United way will not take out any fees, so 100% of all donations will go to relief efforts.
