A Miami-area youth shelter will be holding a unique fundraising event this December, as its “Holidays with the Harbor” events take place online, culminating with a digital watch-along of the Winterfest Boat Parade special broadcast.
The events are to benefit Children’s Harbor, an organization that helps children recover from trauma. The Holidays with the Harbour program will kick off with a virtual workshop on building gingerbread houses, designed for all members of the family. Those who feel they have picked up the tricks of the trade can enter a gingerbread house baking competition, with the best-looking construction being announced at the end of the event series. Other workshops focused on holiday centerpieces and appetizers will also be broadcast.
The culminating event will be a viewing party for the Winterfest Boat Parade. The Parade is a maritime display of South Florida’s signature style, and typically attracts viewers from locations like North Miami Beach and Fort Lauderdale. This year’s Winterfest broadcast will be a showcase of highlights from the parade’s 50-year history Children’s Harbor has hosted a viewing party for the past six years, but this will be the first to take place online. The night will also include a Holiday Jam after-party with music provided by Mike Sipe Entertainment. Fundraising events like this, often advertised through tools like flyer printing, can provide crucial support to non-profit organizations.
Holidays with the Harbor will take place beginning on December 3 and concluding December 12 with the viewing party. The organization asks interested people to RSVP online.
