Rescuing mans best friend in Centennial

A classic movie is the inspiration for an upcoming fundraiser in Centennial.

The Rocky Mountain Cocker Rescue is holding its 3rd Annual Lady and the Tramp Event, a fundraiser for the organization. The organization is the only one in the state licensed by the Pet Animal Care Act program, and is devoted specifically to rescuing Cocker Spaniels. The organization rescues neglected, endangered, stray, and abandoned Cocker Spaniels, both in Colorado and neighboring states; and also accepts them from shelters and animal control agencies.

The Rescue also rehabilitates the dogs who have been neglected or abused; evaluates the animals’ behavior to determine how best to help them; and then helps to find forever homes, rather than placing the Spaniels in shelters. The organization also teaches the importance of neutering and spaying, and preventing animal abuse, and advocating for closing puppy mills. All of the rescued Spaniels go into foster homes rather than shelters.

The tickets include a two-hour period during which guests can enjoy unlimited wine tasting, as well as hors d'oeuvres, plus a silent auction. There will be soft drinks and water available for those who prefer not to have wine.

The event is limited to 80 attendees, so interested parties are urged to buy tickets soon.

The Lady and the Tramp event is planned for February 9, from 2:00 pm until 4:30 pm, at Water2Wine. Ticket prices range from $25 to $40. Flyer printing can be used to create informative handouts for this type of event.
