The Little River Band (LRB) is originally from Melbourne, Australia, and first achieved notable success in their home country, though they went on to become known world-wide, and sold over 30 million albums to fans around the globe.
As part of the celebrations of its 75th anniversary in 2001, the Australasian Performing Right Association (APRA) named a song, “Cool Change,” which was written by one of the band's original members, Glenn Shorrock, as one of Australia's Top 30 songs ever. Shorrock, along with Derek Pellicci, Roger McLachlan, Graeham Goble, Ric Formosa, and Beeb Birtles were the original lineup, with Shorrock and Goble writing most of the early material. David Briggs was an early member as well, replacing Ric Formosa.
In 2004, the band as it was in 1976 was inducted into the Australian Recording Industry Association (ARIA) Hall of Fame. Today, none of the foundling members are with the band, but the band's big, arena-rock sound lives on.
