Jazz is on the way to Centennial, just in time to kick off the holiday season.
The Park Hill Brass will put a jazzy spin on traditional holiday songs when they appear at the Koelbel Library on Holiday Street.
Park Hill Brass, a 10-member Denver-based ensemble, take “The Birth of the Cool,” an album by jazz legend Miles Davis, as their inspiration, going on to blend the Davis sound with other styles, including Latin rhythms and reggae.
The group is happy to present any type of concert requested, but is always sincere in its wish to increase the appreciation of jazz in its audiences. Typical concerts often include music from the Davis iconic album, as well as that of Duke Ellington, and the big-band sound of the Swing Era. Sometimes, the theme of the evening may be jazz in film, or a history of jazz music.
The Park Hill Brass has appeared with some of the greatest names and organizations in music and entertainment, including Billy Crystal, Dizzy Gillespie, Bob Hope, Branford Marsalis, Luciano Pavarotti, Doc Severinsen, Marvin Hamlisch, the New York Voices, the Kennedy Center Opera Orchestra, the U.S. Marine Band, and Richie Cole.
The concert is set for December 19, from 2:00 pm until 3:00 pm. Banner printing can be used to create festive decorations when events like this are scheduled.
