A special event is planned in Centennial that will mark and share insight into the September 11, 2001 attacks.
Richard Wood and Katherine Underhill Fitzpatrick will be at the Smoky Hill Library in Centennial to present their version of the 9/11 attacks. On the date of the attack, Fitzgerald was a reporter for a daily newspaper in the Midwest and had been sent to New York City to cover the fashion shows. Richard Wood was the staff photographer. As soon as they heard about the event, they went to Ground Zero to chronicle it.
Fitzpatrick and Wood will discuss what they saw on September 11, 2021 using excerpts from the dispatches they filed at the time. The presentation is filled with vivid detail featuring hundreds of photos and Wood’s “boots-on-the-ground” commentary, giving audience members a recap of the unforgettable day from a new perspective. Organizers of events like this could use brochure printing to create pamphlets for attendees.
The lecture will take place on the 20th anniversary of the attack, which is this Saturday, September 11, from 11:00 am until 1:00 pm. The event has limited seating and is limited to those age 15 and over only. The Aurora Southlands Parker Woman’s Social Group is hosting the event, which is free to attend. However, registration is required and this can be arranged via Eventbrite.
