The City of Centennial in concert with CSU Extension, recently teamed up with Xcel Energy Partners Energy to develop an Energy Action Plan for Centennial.
The plan identifies energy goals for the community and develops steps to help meet them. The goals of the plan are:
• to develop programs that are energy efficient, and provide rebates to residents in order to help them save money;
• to make sure businesses are aware of free and/or low-cost program to improve their energy efficiency; and
• to make certain community facilities are operating efficiently and take advantage of any rebates offered by energy companies.
During the year, businesses and residents will have chances to learn about the rebates, opportunities, and ways to become more energy efficient by attending community events and workshops. Information will also be available via community newsletters and posts on social media. Officials can work with Print shops to help create these community notices.
In addition, a number of organizations in the community are planning to tune up their buildings and conduct energy audits to find out where they can increase their energy efficiency, make improvements, and help save the taxpayers' money. These include the Arapahoe Libraries, the South Suburban Parks and Recreation District, and the City of Centennial's community facilities.
Residents and businesses are invited to examine the Energy Action Plan, which is available on the city's website.
