For the 10th year in a row, Centennial residents enjoyed a festive night under the stars earlier this month.
A crowd estimated at 1,500 packed Centennial Center Park on Saturday, August 8, for a time trip. Clever and imaginative staging created a 1980s atmosphere that enhanced the performance of Love Shack. The band, based in Las Vegas, is a tribute group that concentrates on music from the 80s. Love Shack has five members, and their covers of hits from that decade, and their high energy, got people on their feet to dance. Adding to the fun was the fact the band members dressed as legendary pop, rock, and new-wave artists.
The festival, known as the Centennial Under the Stars Event, is suitable for people of all ages, and featured local cuisine, as well as musical performances from SHEL and The Patti Fiasco. At the end of the event, fog machines and laser lights created a dazzling display.
In addition, pet parents who came to the event were able to buy a three-year license for their pet for the price of a single-year one. The special rate was available only at the festival.
Festival organizers can build on this year's success by working with a flyer printing company to create a mailer for residents, recapping the fun and asking them to save the date for next year.
