USA Today has named Centennial as the fourth best city in the country in which to live.
Delaware company 24/7 Wall Street looked at 550 cities in the United States with more than 65,000 residents, as tabulated by the U.S. Census. These communities were then rated by variables such as affordable housing, education attained, crime rates, employment and availability of attractions and restaurants.
Earlier this year, west Centennial was recognized as a particularly desirable area, based on its strong sense of community as well as the business opportunities found there. In Centennial overall, over 50% of adults have at least a Bachelor's degree, the poverty rate is low, high school students test higher than average, and the average income for a household is above $91,000 annually.
Centennial boasts some of the finest schools in Colorado, including Arapahoe High School located in west Centennial. Aedin Plantz, a junior at Arapahoe, said the school helps him prepare socially and academically for his future. Plantz is also enthusiastic about the school's drama program, and is taking an online college prep course, Naviance.
Centennial is also celebrated for its attractions, including the popular Centennial Center Park, which has an amphitheater, and has won several awards.
City officials might work with a flyer printing company to create a mailer for residents to celebrate this milestone.
