Centennial residents and friends got the summer off to a rousing start on June 6, at the Summer Kickoff, held at Centennial Center Park.
On the day, people brought blanket to sit on, but did not stay seated long. Instead, everyone—adults and children—got up and danced to live music. The bands playing at the event included the Pandas & People, an alternative folk band based in Northern Colorado. The Trippin Billies, a Dave Matthews tribute band, also featured.
The city sponsored the evening, which is the first of a number of events to be held in the park this summer. Among these free of charge and family-friendly events are the ‘Music and a Movie’ series. The first film up was How to Train Your Dragon 2, which was screened on June 26 and preceded by music from the Black and Blues Guys.
On July 10, music will be provided by Milk Masse, followed by the film ‘Epic’. Two weeks after that, on July 24, the final installment of the ‘Music and a Movie’ series concludes with music by Deja Blu, who will play before the screening of the extremely popular film ‘Frozen’.
