Centennial Center Park to see sizeable investment

Attendance has grown quickly as word spread throughout the region about Centennial Center Park, and the city is now set to invest to make the park even better.

Centennial is investing $1.2m to improve the amphitheater and put a permanent cover over it, so performers can enjoy their time on stage in the city. It also hopes that improving the venue will attract bigger names. The stage will now have permanent lighting, though performers can bring additional lights if they wish. The new structures will also allow for stage managers and performers to install electrical and sound wires.

The amphitheater has been the park’s centerpiece since it opened two years ago, and is where the city held several events during the summer of 2013, including ‘Reggae in the Park’. The amphitheater holds as many as 3,000 people, and several times event organizers had to put up a temporary tent over the stage. Centennial's mayor, Cathy Noon, said that if the city was going to put a cover over the stage, if needs to be safe, waterproof, and a permanent solution rather than a temporary fix.

City officials could work with brochure printers to devise a mailer for the community, describing the renovations and inviting them to visit the park. Once musical acts and events are lined up, calls for brochure and post printing services are only likely to increase.
