A colorful Christmas tradition is coming to the Centennial area.
Centennial residents will want to make the quick trip to Denver to visit the Denver Christkindl Market, an annual event that brings a European, and especially German, flair to the Mile High City for a month every year. This year, for the 19th time, visitors can attend the festival, which takes place in Skyline Park at the corner of Arapahoe and 16th Street, for free.
The market is organized by the German Cultural Foundation and the German American Chamber of Commerce, and features craft vendors from Europe as well as vendors from the local area, along with dancing, live music, and authentic European-style food.
Small wooden huts, each adorned with seasonal decorations, form the marketplace, where merchants from Colorado and abroad will have items for sale. European coffees and Bavarian-type beer will be available, along with hot snacks such as smoked salmon, Bavarian pretzels, and goulash.
The Festival Hall will be heated to give shoppers a place to warm up and enjoy live entertainment. Krampus and St. Nikolaus, rumor has it, will both be at the festival, as well as the Christkindl – a fairy-like blonde in a white-gold dress who gives gifts to children. She is a tradition in Austria, Germany, and other parts of Europe.
The Denver Christkindl Market opens November 20 and runs until December 23; hours vary each day. Banner printing can provide festive seasonal decorations for outdoor events like this.
