The Westfield Corporation plans to redevelop the Promenade mall in Woodland Hills, and recently presented its plans to members of the Woodland Hills Warner Center Neighborhood Council, according to an article in the Los Angeles Daily News.
The international giant owns and manages shopping centers around the world, which bring in more than $15bn annually.
Westfield hopes to turn Woodland Hills' Promenade Mall into what it calls an urban district that offers residents the opportunity to “live, work and play” in the renovated Warner Center. The price tag for the redevelopment is $1.5bn. After the presentation, Westfield discussed how the project would fit in with the Warner Center 2035 effort.
At present, the Promenade mall is almost empty. It sits on 34 acres at Oxnard Street and Topanga Canyon Boulevard, near the office towers of Warner Center. The project would offer different uses depending on their location on the property. For the area of Warner Center bounded by Erwin Street and Owensmouth Avenue, proposals include two hotels, an office tower, upscale apartments, and studios, while alleys and boulevards would be lined with art galleries, restaurants, and shops. Also proposed for the development is the Promenade 2035 Entertainment and Sports Center – an indoor arena for the performing arts that could seat 15,000.
Projects like this can benefit if developers work with brochure printers to create illustrated Booklets for community residents describing the project's amenities.
