Valley Art Workshop will hold the Dynamic Backgrounds animation class in Woodland Hills for anyone interested in learning how to create dynamic world creation in animation designs.
Led by Michael Baillie, the workshop will be four hours long and will delve into the four major elements of world creation, which are atmosphere, framing, staging, and story details. The context in which these four elements will be taught will be animation production, although they can be used in a wide variety of creative applications. The class will follow a digital production format, but students will be able to participate without the recommended hardware and software.
During the workshop, there will be a 20-minutes presentation detailing Baillie’s body of work, along with a Q&A session. Following that will be a 20-minute thumbnailing and value session where students will work on a series of small value sketches for rapid concept development. There will also be a rapid-fire critique session, 80-minute refinement from thumbnail, and a 40-minute final critique session.
Animation workshops such as this may be of interest to those embarking on a career in graphic design and similar artistic endeavors.
The Dynamic Background class is scheduled for January 28 from 1:00 pm to 5:00 pm. It will take place at 5210 Collier Place, Woodland Hills. Tickets are $125 per person.
