To provide residents of Woodland Hills with information on how to ensure earthquake preparedness, the Woodland Hills Branch Library will host and Emergency Preparedness Program this month. The event will be led by Sue Michiels, a trained disaster preparedness expert.
Michiels, who works with FEMA, Red Cross and LAFD will speak to attendees about the importance of planning ahead. Along with providing factual information about this often unpredictable event, Michiels will educate on how to prepare homes, and communicate with family members about things that need to be done in the event of an earthquake. Knowing what to do ahead of time is important and for this type of emergency everyone in the household needs to know what that plan is.
Informative and educational seminars are beneficial for communities and organizers can work with Print shops to option brochure printing and other printing services to provide handouts that attendees can take home and use for future reference.
Among the key topics that will be covered by Michiels are Exit Drills in the House (EDITH), How to Make a First Aid Kit and Home Safety Measures.
The program will be held on Wednesday, August 21st at 6:00 p.m. There is no charge to attend the event and anyone who needs ADA accommodations is asked to make their request at least 72 hours before the event. The program will be held at the Woodland Hills Branch Library at 22200 Ventura Boulevard.
