In a recently compiled list ranking cities by their degree of caring, Santa Ana ranked in seventh place and was the only California city to make it into the top 10.
Put together by Movoto Real Estate, a variety of criteria were used to rate the cities from 1 through 100 in terms of their compassion, with the lowest rankings reflecting the highest levels of care.
Among attributes the cities were ranked for were charitable donations, crimes per 100,000 residents, and the ratio of students to counselors. Also considered were workers who share cars, mental health professionals, homeless services, Facebook ‘likes’ for charitable pages, and pet rescue groups per capita. Using these criteria, Atlanta, Georgia ended up topping the pile.
Santa Ana, like many California cities, got high marks for caring about the environment. In particular, having 17% of workers carpool helped move the city into the top 10. Other good scores the city achieved include those for having the seventh lowest crime rate and being 11th on the list for pet shelters and rescue organizations per capita.
