Redondo Beach workshop to educate on urban foraging

This January, Redondo Beach residents should note that the Intro to Urban Foraging, Gardening, and Plants event is set to take place.

The workshop will be hosted by Jessica Lin of Beyond the Body, LLC. Ms. Lin is an internationally recognized leader in the holistic and wellness industry. She participates in fireside chats, panel discussions, and workshop facilitations hosted by schools, nonprofits, corporations, and community leaders. The urban plant workshop happening in January is an example of such workshops that help to benefit the community.

The Intro to Urban Foraging class will educate attendees on how to identify, use, and cultivate plants that are found in their own backyard. Attendees will learn how to know what plants are edible, and how to differentiate between dangerous lookalikes. There will be discussions on the history of native plants and their indigenous uses, and information about what’s in season, and how to propagate different plants. There will also be a taste-testing portion of the workshop for attendees to taste various vegetables, fruits, and herbs.

Journals and workbooks to take notes in may be useful for those attending workshops like this. As such, organizers and attendees alike may visit local Stationery printers to purchase these products for the class.

The urban foraging class is scheduled for January 7, from 2:00pm to 4:00pm. It will be held at Perry Park, located at 2301 Grant Avenue. Tickets are $100.
