Redondo Beach cycling event to raise money for STEM

The Los Angeles chapter of the AFCEA will hold the 6th Annual Cycling Event in Redondo Beach to raise money for STEM education.

The AFCEA is a nonprofit 501(c)6 organization and professional association that includes professionals in the government, military, academia, and industry fields. The organization works to advance innovation and technology to meet the needs of those who serve in the areas of security, defense, intelligence, and cyber. The AFCEA has various international and regional chapters, of which the Los Angeles chapter is a part.

The cycling event will feature three ride distances – 20, 40, and 65 miles. Cyclists choosing the 20- and 40-mile routes will traverse the Marvin Braude Bike Trail to finish at the parking lot of Temescal Canyon. The full 65-mile distance will take the Palos Verdes route. There will be three dedicated rest stops, which are the Wayfarers Chapel on Palos Verdes, the Marina Del Ray, and the last one is likely to be the Temescal Canyon. Helmets are required.

Cycling events may include printed materials about the designated routes, such as maps, and organizers can visit area Print shops to prepare these in bulk if needed.

The cycling for STEM education event is scheduled for Saturday, July 12, beginning at 9:00 am. It will be at Marina Bike Rentals, which is at 505 North Harbor Drive.
