Oil prices per gallon are falling below $3 throughout the southland, based on a report from the Automobile Association.
Gas prices are now at $2.95 per gallon for regular gas, which is the lowest rate in three years. As more people are forced to stay home during the coronavirus outbreak, and the competition on price between Saudi Arabia and Russia continues, gas prices have also been dropping on a daily basis.
Average prices have decreased over 60 cents as confirmed by figures from the Oil Price Information Service and AAA. The previous run lasted 53 days from Nov 6 to Dec 28 in 2019. The price of gas is now 8.1 cents lower after a week and over 50 cents less than a month before. In Redondo Beach, the cost of gas fell 66.5 cents since January 2020.
Regardless of the unleaded, plus, or premium tier, gasoline prices are declining at a rate of three-tenths of a cent in Orange County. In the area, gas prices are $1.099 below their original value a year ago.
