Kite festival invites high-flyers to Redondo Beach

Miller Children’s and Women’s Hospital is collaborating with the Redondo Pier Association to bring back the 46th Annual Kite Festival, one of the oldest kite festivals in California.

This is a family-friendly event that welcomes the public to participate in a kite-flying contest. Prizes will be awarded to those who build the best handmade kite, the highest-flying kite, the youngest kite flyer, and the most creative kite display. Kites can be bought from the local boardwalk shops, though patrons are allowed to bring their own. Admission is free so anyone can compete.

There is a lot to do at Redondo Beach Pier throughout the year, as it features fine dining, hours of entertainment, harbor cruises, and a shopping center for people who enjoy the panoramic ocean view. This year, the Redondo Pier Association is sponsoring the vendors and live music, introducing Craig’s Hot Dog on a Stick Eating Contest, as well as martial arts demonstrations and traditional dances on the boardwalk.

The kite festival will begin on Sunday, March 8 at the Redondo Beach Pier, and will last from 12:00 noon to 5:00 pm. Parking is $2 an hour beside the street piers. Poster printing can be the ideal solution for promoting contest events like this, as Posters can list the ground rules and prizes to be awarded to winners.
