Amsterdam in LA brings taste of Holland to Dutch Kings Day

Los Angeles is celebrating a national holiday from the Netherlands called Dutch King’s Day with an outdoor event featuring family-friendly activities for everyone.

At an event no doubt of interest to those in nearby Redondo Beach, guests will be surrounded by performers wearing orange attire in honor of King Willem Alexander’s birthday. They will get to eat Dutch street food like the classic kroketten and bitterballen (meat-based snacks), the Hollandse haring (herring), or other kinds of baked delicacies like the stroopwafels (cakes that melt when placed on hot drinks). Indonesian street food is also included as a part of the Dutch cuisine, with its satay and lumpia (spring rolls).

As for entertainment, patrons can join a live musical performance by a Dutch rock band and accompanied DJ, or play some traditional games for people of all ages. There will be a flea market for binge shopping and photo booths filled with Dutch scenery for taking pictures with loved ones. Patrons will get to taste Holland’s national beer at the Heineken beer garden.

One visitor described this holiday as a great time to get together and make friends using the mantra “bright orange and uninhibited!”.

Amsterdam in LA is a growing event that amasses a huge following from local attendees each year in anticipation of Dutch King’s Day. It will occur on April 26 at 11:00 am.
