Successful green thumbs often have a lot of tricks up their sleeve, and one of these will be the focus of an Oakland area workshop.
Garden for the Environment is offering a lesson in composting, and it will help both those who have never composted before as well as those who have been doing it for a long time to learn something new. The class is free, and will include an introduction to the art of vermicomposting as well.
The learners in the workshop will find ways they can use their city composter to its best advantage, such as how to ensure that valuable nutrients end up in the garden and not the landfill. Tips will be shared for how to use compost it in the garden to grow flowers, fruits and vegetables, and another perk of attending the function is that it offers a way to meet and connect with other home horticulturalists
An event like this gives members of the public who are interested a chance to learn more about a topic. Stationery printers are often asking to create composting “cheat sheets” that provide tips to help gardeners to prepare this soil amendment.
Garden for the Environment has invited one and all to learn more about the benefits of composting on September 11th. It will be an in person activity hosted at 1590 7th Avenue in San Francisco.
