Oakland will be marking Earth Day with a special event designed to raise awareness about going green, all while making the city spick and span.
Members of the public who have volunteered to lend a helping hand will fan out throughout the community’s parks, streets, and watercourses to remove litter, clean up graffiti, plant native plants, remove weeds, and restore urban wildlife habitats. All are welcome to participate, no matter their age or level of ability.
More than 100 locations have been slated for cleanup, and tools will be made available for people to use in their efforts. The organizers of the day are seeking both site coordinators and volunteers who would be willing to take some time from their day and do their part for the environment. Anyone who registers to do so will be kept abreast of the latest developments and other information.
Last year, more than 2,300 volunteers agreed to lend their assistance, and in total, they removed nearly 140,000 gallons of trash and other unwanted materials, and it is hoped that this year will be even better. Those who organize an event like this can utilize the assistance of Stationery printers to supply them with certificates of appreciation for all those who helped make the day a success.
The date for the event has been set as April 22 at sites throughout the city. Additional details and an opportunity to register as a site coordinator or volunteer can be found on the city of Oakland website. Get a Free Quote for Stationery
