Oakland folks invited to feel the Art and Soul

Oakland Art and Soul 2015 will take place this summer and will feature music, food, art, and fun.

One of the major initiatives for the event is to ‘Go Green’ through the participation of food vendors, who will use compostable plates, utensils and cups. Compost bins are placed throughout the Zero Waste Zones at the festival for attendees to use in order to limit waste at the landfill.

The food vendors at the Art and Soul event feature a diverse selection of cuisine from across the globe. Samples will include jambalaya, catfish, and gumbo. Cuisines such as Indian, Ethiopian, Asian, Mexican, and Hawaiian dishes will be featured. Sweet treats like funnel cakes and jazzy juice drinks will be available, while beer and wine are also options to wash it all down.

A BBQ Throwdown will be a feature of the festival, with 40 backyard pit masters and professionals competing in the sanctioned BBQ competition.
