Oakland area set to celebrate fungi

It's been said that “fungi make the world go round”, and these common but mysterious organisms that are neither plant nor animal will be the stars of an upcoming gala event.

Mushroom Masquerade will be the signature evening activity for the San Francisco Ferry Building Mushroom Festival. This Oakland area celebration will see guests come in fungi-inspired attire, and there will be lots to see and do.

The guests at the gathering will be treated to an assortment of mushroom-based light bites, and this will be on offer courtesy of the venue's merchants. The wine lovers in the crowd can sip and sample vintages supplied by Napa Valley vintners, and a live DJ will provide the music.

To add an extra touch of mystery to the celebration, everyone will have the opportunity to prepare some festive eyewear for the occasion. Tickets start at $30.00, and this includes 10 tasting tickets as well as a signature glass that features a unique graphic design. Additional tasting tickets may be purchased on site. While walk ups may be admitted for as long as the supplies last, they will not receive the souvenir glass.

This evening that celebrates the mystery of mycology will be featuring fungi based food as well as wine and other fun on October 25th at the Ferry Building. Tickets to join the festivities may be purchased ahead of time through its ticketing site.
