Art enthusiasts had a weekend to remember recently, when Newport Beach held its 55th Annual Newport Beach Art Exhibition.
The exhibition featured over 170 artists, who displayed more than 300 original artworks. Arlene Greer is the chair of the City Arts Commission, and noted that this year's exhibit is the largest in the history of the event. The participating artists had their works judged, and were also able to sell them.
In addition to the art, exhibition attendees enjoyed live music; art activities specifically aimed at children; and a beer, wine, and food pavilion courtesy of The Bungalow Restaurant. Events like this can use flyer printing to create descriptive handouts for visitors.
The exhibition's juror was Cassandra Coblentz, who is the Director of Public Programs and the Senior Curator at the Orange County Museum of Art. Coblentz was graduated from Cornell University with a Bachelor of Arts, and holds a Master of Arts from Bard College's Center for Curatorial Studies. Her work has taken her to the Hammer Museum at UCLA and Los Angeles's J. Paul Getty Museum.
Coblentz awarded prizes to the first, second, and third place winners in the oils and acrylics, and watercolors categories in painting, and in sculpture/3D and photography categories. There was also a Juror's Choice award. Event attendees picked the People's Choice award winner.
Members of the City Arts Commission, along with Long Beach Mayor Diane Dickens, presented the awards.
