Laguna Niguel residents who want to burn off a few of those Thanksgiving calories can take part in an annual fun run down by the coast.
The annual Dana Point Turkey Trot is now in its 43rd year. However, 2020 will see the run take place virtually instead of a staged, one-time in-person event.
It means registered participants can complete the 5K, 10K, or 15K runs whenever they want within the allowed timeframes of the event.
The event has been an Orange County tradition for decades and is an important fundraiser. The Turkey Trot has raised more than $500,000 for local charities.
Two charities will benefit from this year’s run, Family Assistance Ministries and the Marine Corps League, South Coast Detachment 022. Family Assistance Ministries provides shelter, food, and counselling services to families in need. The Marine Corps League provides support for families for Marine Corps members.
Event organizers are still looking for volunteers to man the Packet Pickup booth on Saturday, November 21 and Sunday, November 22.
Local businesses can support the run by sponsoring the “Virtual Goody Bag” to be handed out to all registered participants. The virtual gift bag will be filled with online coupons and special offers from local businesses. It is an opportunity to align a business’s Logo Design with the traditional event.
The 43rd Annual Dana Point Turkey Trot is scheduled for Sunday, November 22 to Saturday, November 28.
