Dr. Pat Echolds of Laguna Niguel recently discovered that he had been named a winner in the Pets Best Insurance Services contest, named ‘My Vet's the Best’.
Dr. Echolds practices in Laguna Niguel at the Rancho Niguel Animal Hospital. Among the six finalists in the awards, he received the most online votes, racking up 4,054 of them. Although seasonal winners are voted on by the public, the grand prize winner of the year is chosen via an internal review panel made up of esteemed veterinarians.
Pets Best Insurance Services is based in Boise, Idaho and sponsors the nationwide contest, which provides a way for pet owners to honor their veterinarian for outstanding service. Voting took place on the company's website as well as its Facebook page.

Dr. Echolds, as a seasonal winner, receives $1,000 to be used to treat animals in need. He and the rest of the team at Rancho Niguel Animal Hospital have chosen to use the money to care for creatures at the nearby Mission Viejo Animal Shelter. A $200 cash prize goes to the pet owner who placed Dr. Echolds name in contention.
