Mouton is the Alzheimer’s Association of Orange County’s vice president of outreach and advocacy. She was honored for her 30 years working in the healthcare field, and specifically her efforts advocating on behalf of those touched by Alzheimer’s. The 2015 Woman of the Year award was presented to Mouton in a ceremony at the State Capital, by Assemblyman Matthew Harper.
An advocate at the state and federal levels, Mouton says the country needs to launch a war on Alzheimer’s similar to the war on cancer. Until this is done, and new, effective treatments for Alzheimer’s are developed, society has a responsibility to provide families dealing with this disease the care and support they need.
A part of advocating for a cause is providing the public with information regarding it, which is why a brochure printer can be a valued ally.
When interviewed for an OC Register article, Moulton was asked to share the most rewarding and challenging part of her work, and said:
“When we have a win in legislative advocacy, such as the Adult Day Healthcare Program, I was elated because it means so much to the families we serve.”
She also mentioned the joy she experienced in teaching the nuances of caring and communicating with the cognitive impaired to their caregivers and professionals.
