The Laguna Niguel YMCA is holding several summer camps where children can learn more about gaming-related topics.
The ESports Program is a series of informative camps designed to engage with kids who are passionate about gaming. Every session will help campers improve their teamwork skills, communication skills, and mental health awareness. Children will also learn new gaming strategies and be taught how to set goals. The camps include a snack break and physical activity such as swimming or walking through nature.
There are several themed weeks that kids can attend during the program, including Virtual Worlds, Content Creators, and Team-Based Tournaments. Kids may take part in each week individually or choose to attend every available camp. A few special activities held during the camps include creating games using Unreal Engine 4, learning how to stream on Twitch with StreamLabs, and group competitions involving Overwatch and Rocket League.
The Esports Program is held each week from June 6 to August 12. The camp sessions are split between 9:00 am to noon and 1:00 pm to 4:00 pm. Those who are members of the Laguna Niguel YMCA can pay $175 to attend, while non-members must pay $225. Campers must register for the event in advance. Recreation centers in charge of programs such as this may use flyer printing for marketing their activities to local children.
