Laguna Niguel to hold decorating contest

Residents of Laguna Niguel can participate in a seasonal competition in December for a chance to win cash prize.

The Holiday Lights Contest is a festive event where members of the community can show off their decorating skills by turning their homes into eye-catching displays. There are many categories for this year’s competition, such as Embracing Clark Griswold, Merry & Bright, and Team Spirit Community. Judges will determine the winners based on factors like curb appeal, lighting, and originality. Those who win in their respective categories can receive a $25 gift card and a commemorative yard sign.

There are a few guidelines that all participants must follow for the contest. Homes must be accessible to the public, so those who live in gated communities cannot enter the competition. Professional decorators will not be allowed to take part in the contest. The organizers also discourage hanging lights over or across streets. The judges will determine which category best represents each entry, though entrants may enter their intended category on the event application.

The judging for the lights contest will be held from Tuesday, December 13th to Wednesday, December 14th. The deadline to enter the festive community competition is Friday, December 9th. A list of the winners will be published on December 16th. Local organizations may promote city-wide events such as this by using poster printing.
