This Fourth of July will once again see runners racing through local parks while benefiting the Laguna Niguel Family YMCA.
Established in 1978, Laguna Niguel’s ‘Run in the Parks’ shows no Signs of having worn out its welcome. Conceived by business partners Bill Pascual and Bill Wettengel, the 37-year-old event has grown from the 160 people in its inaugural year raising $1,500, to approximately 3,000 runners collecting $35,000. Using a banner printing service to build excitement and grow participation in an event is an efficient and cost-effective way to inform and continually remind large numbers of people about an upcoming event such as this one.
This year, the Run in the Parks will be held this Saturday at Niguel Regional and Crown Valley Parks. In addition to the 10K run, the event also boasts a 5K run/walk and races for children. Included with their registration, participants will receive a T-shirt, pancake breakfast ticket, and either a runner or dog goodie bag. The fun continues with open swimming and a concert, to be followed by a fireworks display put on by the city of Laguna Niguel.
The Run in the Parks benefit after school care at the Laguna Niguel Family YMCA, as well as other programs, activities and camps. The city’s YMCA is celebrating its 30th anniversary.
